SoNV Chapter February Meeting - MSD Prevention & Industrial Athletes
February 18, 2025
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) wreck too many workers’ quality of life.
MSDs cost employers millions in claims dollars.
What can be done to get out in front of this problem?
Steve Capobianco is the Senior Director of Medical Innovation for the Implus family of companies, which includes RockTape. Steve will share the physiological principles that make kinesieology tape work and he will facilitate a hands-on workshop for learning how to use it.
RockTape has been refining its workplace Functional Movement Training Industrial Athlete program, and Steve will share what they’ve learned by integrating this first aid program in several industries (food prep, logistics & distribution, heavy manufacturing, etc.).
Here’s what you can expect to learn:
- Define and discuss the physiological effects of kinesiology taping
- Communicate common functional taping techniques as they apply to ‘early intervention of non-reportable’ pain/discomfort management and work-related posture control.
- Demonstrate and apply 3-4 taping applications for common areas of the body (discomfort and posture/fatigue management).
Download a summary PDF on the FMT Industrial Athlete program: FMT-Industrial-Athlete-Benefits-One-Page.pdf .
This is a hybrid meeting, with a limited number of in-person spots available.
- In-person attendees will receive a sample roll of RockTape to practice with as Steve teaches about its applications (supplies are limited to first 30 registrants). If you attend in-person, please bring a pair of scissors to cut your tape for the activities.
- Virtual attendees will still benefit from all the knowledge he shares via our Google Meet platform.
Thanks to member Ben Bojda’s company, Dominion Environmental, for sponsoring the meeting space. The meeting room opens at 12:30 and the meeting agenda starts promptly at 1:00.
