Topic Deep Water Horizon Disaster: A Safety Culture

Speaker Mike Kinney, CSP

Mike is a BCSP Certified Safety Professional with over 40 years’ experience in various facets of safety and mechanical engineering, including over 30 years’ experience in commercial nuclear power and/or Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility programs.  Areas of expertise include development, implementation, qualification, and validation of safety management, construction, and emergency response/recovery programs; oversight and audits of facilities and programs; operational readiness reviews/readiness assessments, development of authorization basis documentation; hazard analysis; accident investigation; root cause analysis; regulatory compliance; construction, worker, process and transportation safety; project management; conduct of operations; and training.

Mike also has extensive experience providing senior level support to companies pursuing DOE/OSHA VPP Star Certification as well as ISO 9001, Quality Management Systems, and ISO 14001, Environmental Management Systems.  In addition, he has been granted an ASSP Certificate addressing implementation of ISO 45001, Occupational Health and Safety Management System.  He is also a certified lead auditor, certified accident investigator and published author, with his latest book addressing safety culture.
