Topic Hurricane Maria and U.S. EPA Disaster Recovery Operations in Puerto Rico
Speaker Douglas C. Sharp, M.S., CEM, CSP
Doug Sharp is a recently retired Physical Scientist with 27 years service with the U.S. EPA. He served as a Safety Officer in Puerto Rico as part of the EPA’s recovery operations from December 18, 2017 to January 3, 2017.Doug is an Adjunct Professor with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Master of Science Program in Crisis and Emergency Management, an Instructor with the OSHA Training Institute Education Center of California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Past President of the ASSP Southern Nevada Chapter. This presentation will show images of the devastation caused by the Category 4 hurricane and discuss safety and risk factors to EPA and contractor personnel recovering hazardous materials.
